Hello.
I’m a freelance writer and consultant with more than 20 years experience in urban economics, infrastructure, development, policy and governance.
Our cities are one of the highest expressions of human civilisation – places that enable exchange, sociability, innovation, collaboration, self-realisation and social progress.
They are vulnerable to shocks, but also resilient and inventive, drawing their strength from networks and layers – of people and movement, of uses and functions, of building and rebuilding.
This website draws together my experience and writing, from books and research reports, to more hurried and impressionistic blogs.
I am a founding director of London Modern, and a non-executive director of The Evidence Quarter.
Please have a look through, and contact me if you think we might usefully work together.
Richard
